You will need a urine specimen cup with a lid, available to buy at most pharmacies.
Many types of food increase the amount of HVA, VMA and 5-HIAA in urine.
Avoid intake of the following food from the evening , at 8 PM, before urine collection:
Certain medications can affect the amount of HVA, VMA and 5-HIAA in urine.
Your medical doctor will inform you if it is relevant to make any adjustments to your medications.
Never stop taking any medications without first consulting your medical doctor.
After a night’s sleep, collect the first urination in the morning into the urine specimen cup.
There should be a minimum of 4 hours since previous urination.
Collect at least 5 ml urine.
Securely attach the lid.
Clearly label the urine specimen cup with:
The urine sample must be frozen within 3 hours of collection.
Deliver the frozen sample at:

Make arrangements with your medical doctor to allow the sample to be delivered frozen to the Oslo Hormone Laboratory.
Usually this entails that you deliver the frozen sample to your local hospital.
