• A large and clean container(soda/water bottle or similar) can be used for the collection of urine.
  The container must have a tight and secure cap.
  A suitable 2 L container can be supplied by the Hormon Laboratory upon request.
  For women: Avoid collection during menstruation.

Iodide or metanephrines:

• You do not need to take any specific prepare yorself before collection.

Cortisol:

• For 24 hours prior to, and the next 24 hours of urine collection, avoid all intake of:
  - Licorice
  - Grape fruit juice
  - Naturopathic/homeopathic preparations
  - Tobacco and other nicotine-containing products ( cigarettes, " snus", chewing tobacco etc.).

• NB! Start collecting urine AFTER your first morning-urination on the day of collection. Attempt to empty your bladder as much as possible during this morning urination.
• Collect all urine( after the morning urination) for the next 24 hours including the morning urination of the subsequent day. In the case that the container gets filled up, use additional containers.
• Urinary collection should end approximately 24 hours after collecting the first urine.
• Keep the container with urine in the fridge ( +4°C) during the collection period, if possible.

• All containers used for collecting urine must be CLEARLY LABELLED with:
  - Full name( First/given and sur/family name).
  - Date of birth/your personal identification number
  - Time and date of first urine collection
  - Time and date of last urine collection

• Samples can be returned by direct drop-off/courier (preferred) or postal mail.
  Delivery of all urine from the full collection is important to ensure correct analytical result.

  Delivery by mail( if you are unable to deliver the urine directly to the laboratory):
  - Mix all collected urine well. In the case of multible containers, ensure all the urine is combined and mixed well.
  - Measure the total volume of urine and write this on the requistion.
  - Transfer 10 mL to a smaller container, that can be sent by mail. The container must be spill proof an capable of withstanding transport.
  Urinary collection containers are available at pharmacies.
  - Avoid sending the urine the day before weekends or a public holiday.
